Threads of History Third Edition for Students Michael Henry 9781948641005 Books Reviews

  • I homeschool and I have dreaded the idea that I would not be able to give my child the support she needs to do well on "extra" things like AP courses. Another homeschool parent recommended this book and claimed her son did really well on the exam thanks to this book (alone - no tutors, which many homeschoolers rely on for this level of difficulty). So, I ordered it. My daughter, who often is not a great self-starter, just ran with it. I didn't need to do much other than follow the book with her. There is a teacher's edition, which I also ordered. It was nice being able to have that at my disposal. I also was very confused about several of the scoring rubrics and emailed the publisher and heard back right away. We even spoke on the phone and he walked me through some scoring basics.
My daughter scored high and got her credits so we are going to try for AP Euro next year. Sherpa Learning makes a self-study for that AP class too and I know I can call if we need help, so that makes it a no-brainer.
  • My daughter did not make the APUSH cut because there are a limited amount of seats per class per grade. She wanted to take the exam anyway, for the credits and because she loves history so it was especially disappointing when she didn't get into the class. This book was recommended and I know it made a huge difference since it's the main book she used to study and she was not in the class. She also used U.S. History Skillbook (same author) and that was was helpful too, but we did not purchase that here. A friend gave her their copy from last year.
  • Bought this book for my son based on the recommendation of another student. For me, the proof was in the pudding when he was one of the 2 students in a class of 15 who scored a 5, and he really thinks it was because of this book. I highly recommend it!
